Executive Development Program (EDP) Bangladesh University of Textiles (BUTEX) Tejgaon Industrial Area, Dhaka-1208 Background of the Program The proposed Institute of Textile Professional Development (ITPD), Bangladesh University of Textiles (BUTEX) is offering a Postgraduate Diploma in Textile Industry Management (PGD-TIM), sponsored by The Ministry of Finance, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh under the Skills for Industry Competitiveness and Innovation Program (SICIP). The ITPD-BUTEX is inviting applications for admission in PGD-TIM of Intake 1: Batch-1, 2, 3 & 4 (Total seats: 140).

Objectives of the Program This program is designed to provide comprehensive training to produce a pool of mid-level executives and managers with the proper know-how necessary for the textile and apparel industry in Bangladesh. Course Plan The curriculum of the program is designed based on the identified deficient areas of local executives and managers, including Business Communication and Public Speaking, Business Management, Business Analysis, Industrial Engineering, English Language and Communication Lab, Textile Design and Testing Lab, Industry Management: Fibre and Spinning, Fabric Manufacturing, Textile Coloration and Finishing, Apparel Production and Washing. This will be 44 weeks-long training program (32 weeks of coursework and 12 weeks of internship).

Applicant’s Eligibility Criteria

Class time:

Classes will be held from 3.00 pm to 6.00 pm and 6.00 pm to 9.00 pm on both Friday and Saturday. Kev Resource Person Classes will be conducted by renowned academicians and industry experts. Applicant’s Eligibility Criteria Interested candidates who have not attended any PGD programs or any other training programs of 3 months or more supported by SEIP or SICIP can apply for admission to PGD-TIM according to the following categories:

Category A (Experienced):

Executives/managers working in the textile industry with a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline with a minimum CGPA of 2.50 out of 4.00 or equivalent for class/division system from a UGC-approved university or institution.

Category B (Fresher):

Graduates or students who appeared at the final examination in Science/Textiles or other branches of Engineering with a minimum CGPA of 2.75 out of 4.00 or its equivalent for class/division system from a UGC-approved university or institution. At least 20% of the total target will be freshers. However, experienced candidates can be enrolled in the reserved seats if potential fresh candidates are not available.

Category C (Female candidates):

Female candidates will get preference in admission. At least 15% of seats will be reserved for eligible female candidates to encourage their participation. PGD in Textile Industry Management (PGD-TIM) However, male candidates can be enrolled in the female-reserved seats if potential female candidates are not available. Program Features No course fee is required, and the trainees will receive financial allowances upon successful completion of the program. The Government is sponsoring about BDT 2,22,349.00 per trainee to cover all the expenses, including travel, internship food allowances, etc.

Application Process

Application Process 2 (Two) Completed hard copies of the application form with the following documents must be submitted to the SICIP-BUTEX office:

i) Signed application form (https://www.butex.edu.bd/executive-devclopment- program;

ii) A motivation letter for joining in the PGD-TIM; j

iii) Copy of all academic certificates and transcripts; iv) Consent letter from the employer (signed by reporting boss and counter-signed by MD/ CEO/ GM/ Director/ DGM) in the company’s original letterhead pad with contact information (https://www.butex.edu.bd/executive-development-program;

iv) Recent color photograph (2 Copy);

v) Copy of NID/Smart Card In addition, candidates must fill up an online form: (https://forms.gle/bYXKHNPWziDGikm7A). Those who have attended any PGD program or any other training program of 3 months length or more supported by SEIP or SICIP within the last year are not eligible to apply. Last Date of Application Sunday, 17 Nov 2024, 5.00 pm Written Test Friday, 22 Nov 2024, 3.30 pm to 5.00 pm Written Test Result Publication Saturday, 23 Nov 2024, 5.00 pm Viva Voce Friday, 29 Nov 2024. 10.00 am to 6.00 pm Saturday, 30 Nov 2024, 10.00 am to 6.00 pm Final Result Publication Thursday, 5 Dec 2024 Selection Process Only the short-listed candidates will be called for a written test. Based on the results of the written test on General Math. (30 marks), English (30 marks), & General Knowledge (40 marks), candidates will be called to appear in a Viva-Voce for final selection.
