Butex Affiliated Textile Engineering Colleges History
From 1911 to 1929, During the British regime, 33 peripatetic weaving schools were established in East Bengal. Resulting from “Shwodeshi Andolon.” These were:
- Textile Engineering College, Noakhali;
- Chittagong Textile Engineering College;
- Pabna Textile Engineering College.
These weaving schools have changed the requirements for a textile technician. They were offering artisan-level 6-month courses. Then in 1980, the courses of the weaving school were upgraded to 2 years certificate course in textile technology.
In 1994, a 3 years Diploma course was introduced in the institution under the Technical Education Board (BTEB). It was considered a milestone for textile education in Bangladesh.
In 2001, The duration of the courses extended to 4 years. The Government of Bangladesh introduced 4 years of BSc in Textile Engineering (TE) programs, abolishing the Diploma in Textile Colleges from the 2006 – 2007 session.
13 January 2006, Textile Engineering colleges were declared. Since then, in the 2012 – 2013 session, the college has been affiliated with the BUTex.

SSC/Equivalence and passed HSC/Equivalence, those who passed in the Science group can apply for textile engineering college admission.
It is also included that you must need at least a GPA of 3.50 in SSC and HSC.
You also have to need at least 3.00 in HSC Physics, Chemistry, Maths, and Biology, and the total grade point of these four subjects has to be at least 15.00.
Exam procedure and Mark Distribution
a) Question Pattern:
There will be 100 questions from Physics – 30, Chemistry – 30, Math – 30 & English – 10 based on the HSC examination syllabus.
b) Question Pattern:
